También tenemos la versión en español aquí: El Rock No Esta Muerto: The Warning
A couple of weeks ago, I began to prepare for the 2018 edition of the Hell & Heaven Festival, I listen to all the bands that were scheduled for Friday May 4th so I can create my route for that day, I started from the less known bands to the most famous ones, there are some bands that you start listening to and end listening to and never really make an impression, but immediately a band caught all my attention, this one was special: The Warning, the name sounded familiar to me and what I was listening to (The 1st LP: XXI Century Blood) I was really enjoying it.
I decided to investigate a bit more about the band to see why the name seemed so familiar to me and voila! YouTube came to the rescue: I met them about 4 years ago for 2 covers they did and were all around social media, at that time they were 14, 12 and 9 years old and I remember that they blew my mind, and not only because of the ages, but because they were one of us: 3 Mexican sisters who really rock out these 2 great songs (Hysteria & Enter Sandman) at such a short age.
Here are the videos from back then:
I remember thinking: Wow! What future awaits these 3 sisters and then I lost the track and disengage from the project until now that they return to my ears.
The Warning is integrated by the Villareal sisters: Alejandra (Bass - 13 years old), Paulina (Drums - 16 years old) and Daniela (Guitar - 18 years old), from Monterrey, México.
There were 2 Mexican bands that were compelling reasons, in addition to leaving the car in the parking lot of the Foro Sol, to arrive early at the Hell & Heaven: Pressive and The Warning. The first one (Pressive) due to the tumult, traffic, etc. we weren’t able to see it, however we had the opportunity to see the entire presentation of The Warning and it was just a very fucking hard crush that completely seizes us.
I had done my homework in finding out about the band and I have more or less of an idea of what was waiting for me, but my homies when they saw the 3 sisters coming out on stage, the first reaction was a surprise: Really? They look so young!
And when the presentation began, riff after riff, beat after beat, we just went crazy together with all the people who were on the Heaven stage watching what was happening. A domain of the stage that bands much more "consecrated" would like to have: a powerful execution, a badass attitude, and suddenly: Pum! the first thanks in Spanish. The people were like: And, above all, they are Mexican? Wow! That was it, they had the audience in their hands.
I could write and write about this band and how we fall in love with them, but I will try to contain my new fanaticism towards them to give a brief semi-objective review.
Each one of the members contributes that aspect of attitude and execution that make the mood of the audience gradually increase until it reaches a point of total euphoria, as I commented at the beginning, in the section that we were, no one left the stage and people kept coming to see this power trio. We've been warned! They won our hearts completely!
Daniela and Alejandra with the Riffs and that totally rocker attitude that makes the melody take over your mind, perfectly complements the energy and rough attitude that Paulina brings to the equation by singing, playing the drums and making each beat resonate and make your head move
Something even more impressive to round off a memorable performance was when in the last song (Survive) there were technical problems with the bass and instead of recriminating the staff or throwing a tantrum or leaving, they took control to continue the boom they had with the musical bridge and the interaction with the audience. It was like: oh, the bass is not working properly, ok, then we clap, we interact with the audience, we continue with the guitar and the drums and we continue punching it out! Having a total domain of the stage even with technical problems, believe me it’s not an easy job, and have it at 18 and 13 years, even less.
There is nothing left but to thank both the 3 sisters and their parents for not letting Rock die and for being worthy representatives of the new Mexican proposals. Total Thanks!
All their work (EP and LP) can be found on the different streaming platforms, but if you can on their official website or oniTunes you can buy their material in physical format (CD and Vinyl) and in digital format. Take advantage to support the national talent.
We leave the only video that we recorded because all the other time we spend it rocking with them:
